Established in 1992 during the second World Renewable Energy Congress in Reading, UK, WREN is one of the most effective organizations in supporting and enhancing the utilisation and implementation of renewable energy sources that are both environmentally safe and economically sustainable. This is done through a worldwide network of agencies, laboratories, institututions, companies and individuals, all working together towards the international diffusion of renewable energy technologies and applications. Representing most countries in the world, it aims to promote the communication and technical education of scientists, engineers, technicians and managers in this field and to address itself to the energy needs of both developing and developed countries.

Die solarpeq ist das neue Top-Event der Solarbranche. Die Fachmesse für solare Produktionstechnik findet parallel zur Weltleitmesse glasstec statt und bietet ein internationales Forum für alle, die Maschinen zur Herstellung und Verarbeitung von Silizium, Wafern, Solarzellen und -modulen anbieten oder kaufen wollen. Zur Erstveranstaltung im September/Oktober 2010 werden über 250 Aussteller aus über 30 Ländern ihre Produkte vorstellen, insgesamt werden zu solarpeq und glasstec über 55.000 Fachbesucher erwartet.
Aufstrebende Unternehmen finden keine bessere Plattform, um sich zu präsentieren. Die Messe Düsseldorf ist Spezialist für Investitionsgütermessen, vor allem im Bereich Maschinen- und Anlagenbau, und verfügt über eine exzellente Infrastruktur. solarpeq-Aussteller haben die Gelegenheit, ihre Techniken am Stand und im laufenden Betrieb zu zeigen – diesen „Live-Vorteil“ bieten nur wenige Messen.
Eine starke Solarbasis ist in Düsseldorf bereits gegeben. Über 150 Solarfirmen präsentierten sich auf der letzten glasstec 2008. Glas ist ein Schlüsselprodukt für die Modulherstellung, die Glas- für die Solarbranche somit ein wichtiger Partner. Mit der solarpeq wird sich Düsseldorf noch stärker als internationale Drehscheibe und Schaufenster für Solartechnik in Szene setzen. Messe-Mitarbeiter in 66 Auslandsvertretungen und 12 Tochtergesellschaften beobachten intensiv das Geschehen auf den Solarmärkten und bringen die weltweit wichtigsten Akteure in der NRW-Landeshauptstadt zusammen.
